I recently went up to Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire for a bit of poet-stalking (Heptonstall and Mytholmroyd being nearby) and came across The Elmet Trust.
The Elmet Trust is a celebration of Ted Hughes’ work and tries to promote awareness of poetry and creative writing in Yorkshire.
This year’s competition is judged by Liz Lochhead, with the theme of ‘Connections’. The deadline is 15th July 2011 and there’s an application form on the site.
This looks like a really good opportunity, with first prize being £300! Also it would be great to have a prize under your belt affiliated with Ted Hughes.
(there is also a Ted Hughes Young Poet Award for under 18s)
